A new effort
I signed up to track our reading on www.readtoday.com. This is my first week trying this out and I wanted to do it right. We have lots of books at home, but I thought it would be fun to get some new books from the library for a change. I picked one, and each of my sons picked a book.

When we got home, we started with Amelia Bedelia. I loved these books when I was younger, but I may need to wait a year or two on these. My 5-year-old and 2-year-old didn't get all the jokes, and kept asking me to explain things. But maybe that's a good thing.

Then we read a Dr Seuss book. The boys kept wanting me to go back to a certain page or picture so they could look at the crazy animals Dr Seuss dreamed up.

Finally, we read a book about monsters and bedtime, which was a great discussion starter. Sometimes at night the boys get worried about monsters, and this was an excellent book to calm their fears.

Next thing I knew 20 minutes had sped by! I like actually writing down how much time I spend reading with my boys -- it makes me read with them more often because I'm tracking it, and it helps me see how time can fly by when you are having fun.
